about estrella

Lori Elam is the owner of Estrella. Her personal passions are found in family, friends, nature and the love of the outdoors. Animals are a significant part of her life. Her animal rescuer roots began when she moved to Nashville and was separated from her two dogs, Mandy and Meisha. After an exhaustive search, she was reunited with Mesiha but Mandy never returned home. The saying goes, "Something good always comes from something bad," and this is where the story begins. During herjourney, Lori found a wonderful world of selfless individuals who generously give their time and money to save the cast-offs of the animal world. She knew that her calling was to be an animal rescuer.

Four years ago, Lori lead a group who decided to create an organization called Nashville Animal Rescue Co-Op. The mission was to collect and distribute donations to small, struggling pet-rescue organizations that they have few resources left over to campaign funds for themselves. Since Lori began the organization, they saved countless animals (dogs, puppies, cats, kittens, horses, hamsters, pigs, birds) from being euthanized as well as saving animals living in despicable, tortuous and deplorable conditions. 100% of the proceeds went to the animals.

Lori's other store, My Sister's Closet, located in Green Hills, has been so successful, it affords her the opportunity to open Estrella...which means "Star" in Spanish. Estrella is a non-profit 501(c)3 celebrity consignment store.

Through the generosity of local celebrities, Lori has raised thousands of dollars of clothing and household items for the store. Her only mission is to create a better world through kindness for all animals and give back to the community that supports this cause.
